Proper Way Of Identifying Patients & Prepping Specimens For Laboratory Testing

After blood samples are verified and collected, the patient name, date of birth, time, and date of collection will be written on every specimen. Blood specimens are spun down within a hour to prevent inaccurate results. Certain test are prepped differently than others which requires paying special attention to transferring plasma or serum into proper transport tubes. Some lab test may have to be frozen or refrigerated. If test are to be frozen or refrigerated then they will placed on dry ice or cool packs. Plasma & serum stickers are placed on the transfer tubes so that the Laboratory Technician can distinguish what is inside for proper testing. After verifying, drawing, and prepping specimens they will be delivered to the lab for testing. Before a Phlebotomist enters a patient home or place of business he or she is to introduce themselves by stating their name and the reason for their visit. Each mobile Phlebotomist is required to wear a badge with their full name, job title, and company name on it. After blood specimens are collected they will be timed by a timer so proper clotting can take place. Specimens are spun within a hour to help prevent inaccurate results. Potassium levels, and glucose levels are known to be affected if blood is not properly clotted and  spun within a timely matter. At JPROLABS2GO,LLC Phlebotomist will have a operating mobile centrifuge in their vehicle.
